ICL Data’s core team is formed by Jeff Korbin and Bob Smik with a supporting cast of team members with over 50 years in the payments space. Both Jeff Korbin and Bob Smik are BSA/AML compliance officers. The team uses organically developed time-tested internal systems, policies, and procedures that have been vetted and reviewed for implementation by OCC regional and Washington members. ICL stands apart from other groups that say they have stringent policies but do not use them.

 

M. Jeffrey “Jeff” Korbin

Mr. Korbin launched the first Electronic Draft Capture program with Toys-R-Us in 1982. With his proven expertise and skills, Mr. Korbin possesses the qualities a bank, partner, or customer seeks. His substantial knowledge of deposit operations allows both financial and non-bank financial institutions to leverage those skills to develop and implement appropriate risk-based internal controls, policies, and procedures. His foundation has always been based on best safety and sound practices.

 

Mr. Korbin has significant BSA/AML experience within the item processing space and is currently launching Checkscope with the ICL team. Checkscope is a specialized automated software program designed to allow financial and nonbank financial institutions to among other things benefit by the US PATRIOT ACT’s Rule 314 part (a) and Rule 314 part (b).

 

Mr. Korbin encourages his entire team to be forward-thinking, thus keeping the company, systems, and overall product and service offering on the leading edge.

 

Jeff says “there is a reason why ICL exists. It has been the culmination of our team’s unique experiences and desires to do something more than create a profit.” He then continues by stating: “Our desire to provide the best services to make “Social Good” happen, needs to be coupled with a keen understanding and appreciation for payment processing integrity and the standard of care which must be taken to satisfy our responsibilities. This is to each and every individual and organization involved in the loop.“

 

Robert Smik

Robert Smik is a 35 year banking veteran having held operational, compliance and divisional leadership positions at a number of banks in the area.

Mr. Smik was President of the Alternative Financial Services (AFS) Division of NOVA Bank (“NOVA”). Mr. Smik developed the compliance program at NOVA and C21 to adequately identify and mitigate the client risks posed by these clients. Mr. Smik successfully managed the AFS Division through numerous state and federal BSA/AML examinations.

 

Mr. Smik provides BSA/AML and operational consulting services to a variety of companies within the financial services industry.
